Court case on eviction of UOC monks from Kyiv Cave Monastery postponed again

The court hearing on the lawsuit filed by the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve demanding the eviction of the monks of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from the monastery was postponed once again. The reason was the recusal of the judge who participated in the case. This was reported by the lawyer of the Kyiv Cave Monastery, Archpriest Mykyta Chekman.

“One of the judges was recused due to the fact that, according to our information, she has repeatedly ruled against the UOC. To avoid any doubts about the absence of bias, the monastery’s side challenged her. However, during the consideration of the recusal, this judge recused herself, and the court upheld this decision,” — the lawyer said.

Earlier, the spokesman for the OCU, Yevstratiy Zoria, expressed hope that the state would be able to finally resolve the issue of the stay of the monks of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Zorya believes that the monastic community of the UOC has no right to stay on the territory of the monastery.
