Head of OCU celebrates events in Chernihiv Cathedral seized from UOC

On November 24, 2024, the head of the OCU, Epiphany Dumenko, held religious events in the Transfiguration Cathedral of Chernihiv, which was taken away from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The process was also attended by the head of the Chernihiv Regional Administration and the director of the National Historical and Architectural Reserve “Chernihiv Ancient”. This is reported by the OCU website.
It is reported that together with Dumenko, the events were attended by the head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration Vyacheslav Chaus, the director general of the National Reserve “Chernihiv Ancient” Natalia Rebrova, as well as representatives of the local diocese of the OCU. At the end of his visit to Chernihiv, Dumenko visited the Trinity-St. Elias Monastery, which was also taken away from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by the state last year. This church, along with the Transfiguration Monastery, was set up as a museum.
On November 1, 2024, the ancient Transfiguration Cathedral of Chernihiv, which was taken over from the Chernihiv Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, hosted a film screening. The event was organized by the National Architectural and Historical Reserve “Chernihiv Ancient”. In addition, an exhibition was organized in the church.
