Georgian NGOs to continue actions in support of UOC

On December 17, 2024, a meeting of representatives of Georgian public organizations dedicated to supporting the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was held in Tbilisi. The participants discussed the actions already taken in defense of the UOC, paying attention to the position of the Georgian Orthodox Church on this issue. This is reported by the publication “Politforum”.

The organizers of the solidarity of the Orthodox of Georgia with their Ukrainian brethren, who gathered at the round table, analyzed the situation that arose around the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and also summarized their work in 2024. At the same time, they expressed confidence that the prayerful, moral and public support of the Orthodox in Ukraine will continue both in Georgia and in other Orthodox countries.

“I am pleased with the position of the GOC on the non-recognition of the non-canonical OCU and autocephaly in Ukraine. This position is in line with all church canons. No one has the right to invade the canonical area of the Russian Orthodox Church, of which Ukraine is a part,“ – said Lasha-Giorgi Lomidze, head of the Mdzleveli (”The Winner”) organization.

As reported, on November 25, 2024, a rally in support of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was held in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi. Believers of the Georgian Orthodox Church opposed the persecution of the UOC and the anti-church policy that the state is implementing in relation to the canonical Church.
