Primate of the Albanian Church hospitalized in an Albanian hospital

On December 30, 2024, the press service of the Albanian Orthodox Church published a statement on the hospitalization of the Primate of the AOC, His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios of Albania, at the HYGEIA hospital in the capital of Albania, Tirana. The Albanian Church reports that the Primate has contracted a viral infection. The statement is posted on the official website of the AOC.

“His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios of Albania was admitted to the Tirana Hospital for observation in connection with the onset of a seasonal viral infection. His health condition is absolutely stable, and the doctors express their optimism,” – the statement reads.

Earlier, the Albanian Orthodox Church published a statement in support of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The AOC criticized the legislative initiatives of the Ukrainian authorities to ban the UOC and declared support for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in a period of difficult trials.
