Court hearing in Metropolitan Arseny's case postponed due to air raid alert

On January 16, 2025, a court hearing was held in Kryvyi Rih in the case of the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the abbot of the Holy Dormition Sviatohirsk Lavra, Metropolitan Arseny. The subject of the hearing was the decision of the Sloviansk City District Court of the Donetsk Region of December 5, 2024, which extended the detention of Metropolitan Arseny in the Dnipro Detention Center for two months. The hearing had to be postponed indefinitely due to air raid alerts. This was reported by the official website of the Sviatohirsk Lavra.

“Metropolitan Arseny took part in the meeting via video link. Lawyers and the bishop himself addressed the court. The meeting was interrupted by an air raid alarm. The date of its continuation is not yet known,” — the press service said.

Earlier, Metropolitan Arseny, who is under investigation in a pre-trial detention center, called on the faithful to hold on to the Mother Church and courageously endure all the trials.
