Earlier, the co-chair of the National Federation of Young Republicans, Katherine Whiteford, warned the persecutors of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the coming retribution if they do not repent and stop persecuting canonical Orthodoxy in Ukraine. Whiteford said that thanks to Trump’s victory in the US presidential election, the persecution of Christians, especially the UOC believers, will soon be stopped in the world.
Religious scholar suggests that Donald Trump will support OCU

Director of the International Institute of Athos Heritage, religious scholar Serhiy Shumylo suggested that the new head of the White House will support the OCU instead of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Shumylo believes that Trump’s support for the OCU will occur because the organization emerged during his last presidency, and the new administration of the US President includes the archons of the Patriarchate of Constantinople. He wrote about this in an op-ed on the Glavkom website.
“Now everyone is wondering what Trump’s course will be and what to expect… However, in the context of religious policy, it is worth recalling that it was during the previous presidency of Donald Trump (2017-2021) that the Ecumenical Patriarchate initiated the granting of the Tomos of autocephaly to the OCU, and, as we remember, the Russian Federation blamed the “Trump” US State Department for this,” — Shumylo believes.
In addition, the religious scholar takes into account the fact that one of the members of President Trump’s team is a member of the Order of the Archons of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, Michael Kratios, who has been appointed as an adviser to the US President and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
“By the way, it somehow remained unnoticed that among the important appointments, Archbishop Michael Kratsios of the Ecumenical Patriarchate was announced as an adviser to the President of the United States and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. It is reported that, among other things, he will be in charge of artificial intelligence and cryptocurrencies in the Trump administration. M. Kratsios is considered the architect of the American artificial intelligence initiative and the national strategy for promoting American leadership in the field of AI, in the previous Trump administration he served as the chief technology adviser to the US President, among other things, he led the White House’s efforts to integrate unmanned aerial vehicles into the national airspace system, and since 2020 he has served as the Deputy Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering at the Pentagon. He is a parishioner of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and was initiated by Patriarch Bartholomew into the Order of the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate on the recommendation of Archbishop Elpidophoros,” — the religious scholar added.
