Pope Francis hospitalized in an Italian hospital due to bronchitis

On February 14, 2025, the head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis, was hospitalized in an Italian clinic due to an exacerbation of bronchitis. It is noted that the pontiff complained of health problems that prevented him from preaching a sermon during general audiences. This was reported by the Vatican press service.

“This morning, after the end of the audiences, Pope Francis will be hospitalized at the Agostino Gemelli Hospital. Agostino Gemelli Hospital for some necessary diagnostic examinations and to continue his ongoing treatment of bronchitis in hospital,” — the Vatican press service said in a statement.

Earlier, the head of the Department for External Church Relations of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, expressed concern about the Roman Catholic Church’s retreat from traditional Christian values. The bishop is convinced that if the Vatican continues to liberalize the issue of attitudes toward LGBT people, the Russian Church will no longer have any topics for joint interaction with the RCC.
