Seized UOC Cathedral in Cherkasy to be used as a bomb shelter for football fans

The Archangel Michael Cathedral of the Cherkasy Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, seized by OCU radicals, will now be used as a bomb shelter for football fans. Relevant agreements were reached between the Cherkasy Diocese of the OCU and the administration of the local football club LNZ, whose stadium is located next door. According to FC LNZ, earlier, when the cathedral was under the control of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, they did not have such an opportunity. This was reported by the publication “18000”.

The general director of FC LNZ said that the club could not afford to admit more than 400 people to the match, as the stadium’s bomb shelter is designed for this number. This circumstance made it impossible to admit more fans, which resulted in the FC losing potential profits. Now, thanks to the agreement with the Cherkasy Diocese of the OCU, the fans will be hiding in the basement of the Cathedral, which will increase their number to a thousand people.

“There is a condition: you can sell as many tickets as there are seats in the bomb shelter 500 meters from the stadium. We have now been able to expand this quota to a thousand people. In the regional center. Can you imagine? We have 16 home games, we could have laid down potential profits. But we didn’t. We had 400 seats. Now we have a thousand, because we signed a contract and helped with the arrangement of a shelter in the basement of the church. We wanted to do this before the season, but we were not allowed to do it (when the cathedral was controlled by the UOC — ed.),” said the LNZ general director.

Earlier, we reported that the invaders plan to set up a military museum in the unfinished bell tower of the Archangel Michael Cathedral in Cherkasy, which was seized from the Cherkasy Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. It will display personal belongings of military personnel, shell casings, weapons and other attributes of war.
