Court case on eviction of monks of Kyiv Cave Monastery postponed again

The trial in the case of the eviction of the monks of the Holy Dormition Kyiv Cave Monastery has been postponed again. This time, both parties to the proceedings requested the postponement. This is reported by the Fortress Lavra Telegram channel.

It is reported that the defendant, the National Reserve of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, filed a motion to postpone the hearing. At the same time, the lawyer of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Archpriest Mykyta Chekman, filed a motion to postpone the hearing due to illness. Thus, the next hearing in this case will be held on April 10, 2025.

As reported, on January 27, 2025, the Northern Economic Court of Appeal of Kyiv ruled to ban the eviction of the monks of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. The court ordered to suspend the consideration of the lawsuit on the eviction of the monastery’s brethren until another court case is finally resolved on the lawsuit on the legality of the termination of the contract for the use of the Lavra’s premises.
