Macedonian Church plans to publish position on OCU after Easter

The Macedonian Orthodox Church plans to publish an official position on the Ukrainian church issue after Easter. At the Synodal level, the MPC will express its attitude to the status of the OCU, for which the Synod of the Church has formed a special commission. This was reported by the chairman of the commission to the publication “Evening… 1963” publication, Metropolitan Hilarion of Bregalnytsia, the chairman of the said commission, told this to the publication.
“We are collecting data and understanding what is happening. We did not have a meeting at which we would form a final position on the status of the OCU. If the Synod of the Moscow Patriarchate puts this issue on the agenda of the Synodal meeting after Easter, we will prepare the final report of our commission,” — the bishop said.
He added that the Synod meeting could be held after Easter, in the second half of April. In his opinion, the presence of all members of the Synod is necessary to resolve such issues.
“To resolve such issues, the presence of all members of the Synod is necessary. We expect all the bishops to arrive here after the Easter holidays to be able to attend the meeting. The report (on the OCU issue) still needs to be prepared. It has not yet been submitted to the Synod so that the bishops can discuss it,” — the Metropolitan summarized.
As reported, on September 12, 2024, the Holy Synod of the Macedonian Orthodox Church expressed support for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church — its Primate, clergy and faithful. The Synod of the MOC criticized the anti-church law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and called for prayer for a speedy resolution of the Ukrainian church crisis.
