The Orthodox Church of Macedonia expressed support for the UOC

On September 12, 2024, the Holy Synod of the Macedonian Orthodox Church expressed support for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church — Her Primate, clergy and faithful. The Synod of the MOC criticized the anti-church law passed in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and called for prayers for a speedy resolution of the Ukrainian church crisis. The official website of the Archdiocese of Ohrid reports that.

“The Synod paid special attention to the situation with the sister Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which was administratively abolished by the Verkhovna Rada with the bill 8371, as a result of which millions of believers who attend the temples of this Church are deprived of the basic right of religious affiliation, to practice their faith and to perform religious services,” — the statement reads.

The MOC said it prays for the Lord to strengthen the clergy and faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, giving them the strength to withstand the current circumstances.

“The Holy Synod of the Macedonian Orthodox Church — Ohrid Archdiocese, bearing witness to the Gospel truth, expresses its prayerful support for the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufryi of Kyiv and All Ukraine, the brother high priests and the faithful people, praying that the all-glorious Lord will give them the strength to withstand and overcome these trials. At the same time, the Holy Synod prays for the unity of all Local Orthodox Churches, which make up the Body of Christ,” — the MOC added.

As reported, on September 3, 2024, the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia issued a statement in which it expressed support for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine. The Synod of the OCCLS stated that democratic countries cannot adopt laws aimed at prohibiting the activities of religious organizations.
