Head of US National Intelligence accuses Zelensky of closing churches

US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard accused Volodymyr Zelenskyy of persecuting the opposition, violating freedom of speech and closing churches. Gabbard drew attention to the fact that there are huge problems with the observance of human rights and freedoms in Ukraine, and this issue is not being resolved. She said this on Fox News.

“Volodymyr Zelenskyy claims that he is fighting for freedom and democracy, but if we look closely, we will see the opposite. Elections have been canceled in Ukraine. Political parties are being silenced or outlawed, and their members are being imprisoned. We see churches being closed. Total state control over the media has been established. We could go on with a long list of problems that run counter to the values of democracy and freedom,” – Tulsi Gabbard said.

As a reminder, on February 28, 2025, after the infamous meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump at the White House, the head of the Ukrainian state had a chance to talk to Billy Graham, president of the Evangelical Association, and Franklin Graham, head of the Samaritan’s Purse charity. During the conversation, Zelenskyy assured Graham of the high level of religious freedom in Ukraine.
