“Allahu Akbar": Zelensky took part in the Muslim iftar

On March 13, 2025, Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in a Muslim traditional event called “iftar”. Iftar is an evening meal for Muslims during the Islamic fast of Ramadan. During the event, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that in this way the state shows respect for the Muslim community of Ukraine. This is reported by the official website of the Office of the President.

The Head of State noted that this year’s diplomatic efforts of Ukraine and its partners to bring a just and lasting peace closer and guarantee the security of our country fell on Ramadan. He also spoke about the successful meeting between the diplomatic representatives of Ukraine and the United States in Saudi Arabia.

As reported, on February 28, 2025, the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience congratulated the Muslims of Ukraine on the beginning of Ramadan (Muslim fasting — ed.). At the same time, the SESS website does not mention a single word about the Christian Lent, which began on March 3 for Orthodox and Greek Catholics.
