Patriarch of Constantinople takes part in Muslim iftar

On March 12, 2025, Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople took part in a Muslim iftar. Iftar is an evening meal for Muslims during the Islamic fast of Ramadan. The event, organized by the Office of Minority Affairs, was held at the Hilton Bomonti Hotel in Istanbul. This is reported by the website “Light of the Phanar”.
It is reported that the event was attended by Turkish Minister of Culture Nuri Mehmet Ersoy, representatives of the General Directorate of Waqf, representatives and leaders of religions and denominations of Turkey, heads of communities of minority institutions.
During the Iftar, representatives of religions read Muslim prayers in which words of unity, friendship, and coexistence were said.
As a reminder, on March 13, 2025, Volodymyr Zelenskyy also took part in a Muslim iftar. During the event, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that in this way the state shows respect for the Muslim community of Ukraine.
