Vatican Secretary of State rules out resignation of Pope Francis

Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin has ruled out Pope Francis’ resignation from his post as head of the Roman Catholic Church. Parolin noted that such a decision would not be affected even by the pontiff’s health, which, according to the Secretary of State, is satisfactory. He said this in a commentary to the media, according to PCH24.pl.

“I think we should rely on medical bulletins because they tell us exactly what the Pope’s condition is. I saw him last week, but then I did not have the opportunity. I saw that he is in better condition than the first time, but this is only an external assessment,” — said Cardinal Parolin.

Earlier, Italian Roman Catholic Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi suggested that Pope Francis may resign due to health difficulties. The Cardinal added that the Pontiff would like to take part in the celebration of the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council before he leaves, but it is not known whether he will be physically able to wait for this moment.
