UOC Synod decides to celebrate 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council

On March 19, 2025, a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was held. One of the decisions adopted at the Synod of the UOC was the intention to celebrate the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council at the churchwide level. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
It is reported that according to the decision of the Synod, the solemn events dedicated to the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council will be held on June 1, 2025, on the Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council.
Earlier, Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople suggested that the contradictions between the Orthodox and Catholic Churches that have accumulated since 1054 will be resolved in the next few years. It is reported that the starting point should be a joint celebration of Easter, which in 2025, for Orthodox and Catholics, will be held on the same day.
