OCU speaker holds joint religious events with UGCC

On March 22, 2025, the spokesman for the OCU, Yevstratiy Zorya, held joint religious events with representatives of the UGCC in Poland. The celebrations took place on the occasion of the 210th anniversary of the birth and 155th anniversary of the death of Mykhailo Verbytskyi, who was a priest of the UGCC in the village of Mlyny (Poland) and is also known for writing music for the Anthem of Ukraine. This was reported by the Greek Catholic publication RISU.

It is reported that the religious events were performed by the hierarch of the UGCC Yevhen Popovych, the spokesman for the OCU Yevstratiy Zorya and other clergy from Poland and Ukraine. Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Vasyl Bondar, Consul General of Ukraine in Lublin Oleh Kuts, representatives of the Lviv region and the Ukrainian community in Poland took part in the celebrations. The event was organized by the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Przemysl Oleksandr Bachyk and UGCC cleric Ivan Tarapatsky.

Earlier we reported that on January 14, 2025, the heads of the UGCC and the OCU, Sviatoslav Shevchuk and Epiphany Dumenko, met. Representatives of the denominations discussed issues of deepening mutual cooperation.
