Lviv City Council, which took away all property from the UOC, actually donated the city park to the UGCC

The Lviv City Council, which had previously taken away all property from the Lviv Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church that the UOC had within the city limits, has renounced its claims to the Metropolitan Gardens city park in favor of the UGCC. Because of this demonstrative loyalty of the Lviv city authorities to one of the denominations, the Economic Court even closed the case that was considered earlier in this regard. It is reported that the State Special Communications Service has yet to sign the act of acceptance and transfer of the premises of the Sheptytsky Library and TP. The broadcasting concern must terminate the right of permanent use of the land and conclude an easement agreement with the Lviv Curia of the UGCC. After that, the Lviv Regional Administration will take the final step of combining the three land plots into one and transferring everything to the Church along with the library.

“Today, 5 years of wandering in the courts regarding the Sviatoyursky Metropolitan Gardens have come to an end. The Lviv City Council has fulfilled all its obligations in accordance with the memorandum we signed at the beginning of the month,” — wrote Yevhen Boyko, an official of the Lviv City Council, on Facebook.

It is worth noting that the UGCC’s appetite for Lviv’s urban real estate is constantly growing. Recently, we reported that the UGCC demanded that the Lviv City Council transfer the premises of Lviv City Municipal Hospital No. 3 to them. The essence of the claim is that this building was built in 1904 at the expense of a well-known UGCC figure, Andrei Sheptytsky. In this regard, the Greek Catholics of Lviv consider themselves to be the rightful owners of this building.
