Biomorphologists, veterinarians, and embalming experts joined the Ministry of Culture's commission to “audit” the relics of the Kyiv Cave Monks

The commission of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, which will take an “inventory” of the relics of the Kyiv-Pechersk saints, will include representatives of exotic specialties. According to the official data of the Decree of the Ministry of Culture, the commission will include, among others, embalming specialists, biologists, zoologists, and even veterinarians. The commission will work with the relics of the Kyiv Cave Saints until May 2025.

The lawyer of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra published the text of the decree, according to which it is clarified that the commissions for the «audit» of the relics of the monks of Kyiv-Pechersk include 18 people, of whom — in addition to employees of the DESS, the national reserve «Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra» and the SBU — a separate place is occupied by: Head of the Department of Human Anatomy of the Odessa National Medical Institute Appelkhanas Olena, Researcher of the Department of Biological Research of the National Research and Restoration Center Bolela Natalia, Researcher of the Department of Climatology of the National Research and Restoration Center Gavrylenko Yuriy, Professor of the Department of Human Anatomy of the Vinnytsia National Medical Institute Huminsky Yuriy, Head of the Department of Military Surgery of the Ukrainian Military Medical Academy Korol Serhiy, Head of the Department of Vertebrate Biomorphology of the National University of Bioresources Melnyk Oleh, Head of the Scientific Department of Biological Research of the National Tatyana Mytkovskaya, Professor of the Department of Public Health and Nutrition at the National University of Life Resources, Gennady Tkach, and even Ilya Chekailov, Specialist in the Department of National Minority Rights at the National University of Life Resources.

On the morning of March 28, 2025, representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, accompanied by the police, seized the Near and Far Caves of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, where the imperishable relics of the Kyiv-Pechersk monks rest. The invaders broke down the doors at the entrances to the Caves and installed their own locks.
