The Jerusalem Patriarch expressed support for the abbot of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

On April 5, 2025, an online conversation took place between Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem and the abbot of the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Paul. The First Hierarch of the Jerusalem Orthodox Church conveyed words of support to Metropolitan Paul and the monks of the Kiev Pechersk Monastery. The official website of the Lavra reports this.

«On the day of the Feast of the Praise of the Mother of God, after the Liturgy, a video connection took place between the Viceroy of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod and Chernobyl, and Patriarch Theophilus of Jerusalem, who conveyed his blessing and expressed words of support to the abbot and the brethren,» — the monastery’s website notes.

Recently, the Primate of the Albanian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Archbishop John, spoke out on the Ukrainian church issue. The first hierarch drew attention to the fact that the creation of the OCU split world Orthodoxy, noting that the Synod of the Albanian Church had expressed its position on this issue and it remains unchanged.
