Bailiffs fail to evict UOC Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese from occupied premises

On April 8, 2025, the executive service of the Volodymyr-Volynskyi City Council once again made an unsuccessful attempt to evict the Administration of the Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from the occupied premises. We remind you that we are talking about the Holy Dormition Cathedral and a complex of buildings that house the diocesan administration and the Volodymyr-Volyn Theological School. This was reported by the regional publication Bug.

It is reported that the commission of the Executive Service visited the Holy Dormition Cathedral of Volodymyr-Volynskyi, where it persuaded the administration of the Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the UOC to leave the occupied premises, which were expropriated into state ownership by the decision of the courts of first and second instance. However, officials of the executive service received another refusal.

The next visit of state bailiffs is scheduled for April 22. The bailiffs assume that if the Volodymyr-Volyn Diocese of the UOC refuses to voluntarily leave the premises, the Church may be evicted by force.

As reported, on March 31, 2025, representatives of the state executive service recorded the fact that the Vladimir-Volyn Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was unwilling to leave the state-expropriated complex of premises of the Holy Dormition Cathedral in Vladimir-Volynsky, which also houses the diocesan administration and theological school. In this regard, a fine was imposed on the diocese and an announcement was made of a future forced eviction.
