OCU in Zaporizhzhia Urges Celebrating Easter Online

In Zaporizhzhia, the leadership of the local “diocese” of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) has called on believers to refrain from attending churches on Easter and instead join the “services” online. This was stated during a briefing by OCU “bishop” Photios. This information is published by Ukrinform.
According to him, only those who intend to receive Communion may come to the church. The rest of the faithful are urged to watch the “services” via social media broadcasts. The reason given for this appeal was “safety concerns.”
It was also reported that on the holiday, public order in Zaporizhzhia will be ensured by over 800 police officers, 270 of whom will be on duty near churches.
As a reminder, the Kyiv city authorities earlier appealed to religious leaders to limit mass Easter services and to ensure maximum online broadcasting from places of worship due to the heightened risk of enemy attacks.
