A Nun of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia Will Teach at the Theological Academy of the OCU

Starting next academic year, Sister Vassa Larin will begin teaching at the Department of Church-Practical Disciplines of the Kyiv Orthodox Theological Academy. She is a nun of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, a liturgist, Byzantinist, Doctor of Philosophy, and lecturer at the University of Vienna. Sister Vassa is the author of the English-language podcast Coffee with Sr. Vassa, which has a large audience. She is also known as a supporter of the OCU’s autocephaly.

During her visit to Kyiv, Sister Vassa took part in the round table discussion “The Typikon and Contemporary Liturgical Practice.” The event addressed issues of the OCU’s liturgical life. In her presentation, Sister Vassa outlined theoretical and practical aspects of applying the Typikon.

Earlier, it was reported that monks from the St. John Chrysostom Monastery of the OCU visited Mount Athos and other Greek shrines. As part of the trip, the monastery’s abbot, Kyprian Lozynskyi, presided over the Divine Liturgy at the New Esphigmenou Monastery on the feast day of the Holy Martyr Agathangelus of Esphigmenou.
