Bulgarian Patriarch congratulates Pope Leo XIV on his election

The Primate of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria, congratulated Pope Leo XIV on his election as head of the Roman Catholic Church. The first hierarch of the Bulgarian Church wished the Pontiff to adhere to the Apostolic Tradition and Gospel morality. This was reported by the press service of the Bulgarian Patriarchate.

«Your Holiness, our desire to remain faithful to the Apostolic Tradition, the Gospel morality and the enduring virtues of Christ is the key to our gracious success as shepherds of the flock of Christ, the key to the realization of the unity commanded by the Lord between His disciples, Christians around the world. May our Lord Jesus Christ, through the prayers of His Most Holy Mother, St. Leo the Great, the Pope, and all His saints, grant you spiritual and physical health and strengthen you in your highly responsible ministry!», — the greeting reads.

As we reported earlier, on May 8, 2025, the Roman Catholic Church elected a new Pope. Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost from the United States became the 267th pontiff, who took the name Leo XIV after his election. He is the first Pope in the history of the Catholic Church to come from the United States of America.
