The State Security Service of Ukraine announces the start of an inspection of the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC for affiliation with the Russian Orthodox Church

The State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience has published a message announcing the start of an inspection of the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church for affiliation with the Russian Orthodox Church. The procedure will begin on May 20, 2025. This is reported on the website of the institution.

“In accordance with paragraph 8 of the Procedure for conducting a study on the existence of signs of affiliation of a religious organization with a foreign religious organization whose activities are prohibited in Ukraine, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of May 9, 2025 No. 543, the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience announces the beginning of a study on the presence of signs of affiliation of the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (identification code according to 21510633 organization number) with a foreign religious organization whose activities are prohibited in Ukraine,” — the statement says.

Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine identified signs of propaganda of the “Russian world”, according to which they plan to inspect religious communities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. It is noteworthy that the list of signs includes not only political but also purely religious aspects.
