As a reminder, on May 28, 2025, the executive committee of the Cherkasy City Council convened an extraordinary session, during which it was decided to deprive the city of ownership of all land plots used by the Cherkasy Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The meeting was so “urgent” that most of the participants were present online.
OCU manages to seize 110 UOC churches in Cherkasy region

The head of the Cherkasy branch of the OCU, Ivan Yaremenko, spoke about how many parishes of the UOC in the Cherkasy region have been seized by supporters of his organization. According to Yaremenko, over the past few years, OCU adherents have seized more than 100 religious buildings belonging to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the region in various ways. He said this in a commentary to 18000.
According to Ivan Yaremenko, as of June 2025, the Cherkasy Diocese of the OCU was able to seize 110 churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. According to him, another 25 religious communities of the UOC are preparing to “move to the OCU,” and in recent years, 25 clergymen of the canonical Church have joined the organization.
