LGBT Event to Take Place Near OCU Cathedral in Kyiv

The organization KyivPride has announced that on June 7, it will hold an LGBT event on St. Michael’s Square in Kyiv — in direct proximity to the cathedral of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. The event is scheduled for Trinity Saturday, a solemn day of remembrance for the departed in Orthodox tradition. This was reported on the organization’s website.
According to the organizers, the gathering will be held “in a warm circle of like-minded people and allies.” They explained the choice of location by saying that St. Michael’s Square is a “public space that belongs to all citizens of Ukraine,” and also due to the proximity of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs — “a key government body that supports LGBT rights.”
KyivPride representatives also claim that hundreds of LGBT individuals allegedly serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the announced event is intended, among other things, to express support for such servicemen and women.
It is also worth noting that on June 7 and 8, 2025 — during the celebration of Pentecost — an LGBT festival will be held in Kyiv, and a gay pride parade is scheduled for June 14. The stated goals of these events are “fundraising for the Armed Forces of Ukraine” and “the defense of human rights.”
