"The Trinity is the army, language and faith": Poroshenko celebrates Pentecost at UGCC Cathedral in Kyiv

Former President of Ukraine and ideologue of the OCU, MP Petro Poroshenko, celebrated Pentecost at the Resurrection Cathedral of the UGCC in Kyiv. In his welcoming speech, the head of the European Solidarity political party said that for him “the Trinity is the army, language and faith.” He wrote about this on his account on the social network X.

“Just as the heavenly Trinity — one and only — cares for the people of light, so do the dark forces — the enemy and the devil — seek to destroy this holy resistance. The Russian aggressor is waging war not only against our land, but also against our earthly trinity. What is this trinity? This is the army, this is the language and this is the faith. And it is very important that we preserve our army, because it is the only guarantee of the existence of our state. It is also important that we preserve our language, because it is the core, the heart of our people. And it is very important that we preserve our faith,” — Poroshenko wrote.

As we reported earlier, on May 22, 2025, representatives of the OCU and the UGCC held joint religious events on Tarasova Hill on the occasion of the 164th anniversary of the reburial of the famous Ukrainian writer Taras Shevchenko. The memorial service for Shevchenko was led by the head of the OCU Epiphany Dumenko. Together with him, representatives of the UGCC, whom the writer himself noted in his writings with unflattering words, pointing to the disastrousness of the union for the Ukrainian people, “prayed for Taras Shevchenko.”
