The trial of Metropolitan Feodosy continues in Cherkasy

On June 12, 2025, the Sosnovsky District Court of Cherkasy held another hearing in the case against Metropolitan Feodosy of Cherkasy and Kaniv, a hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This time, the court considered the prosecutor’s claims regarding the work of diocesan Internet resources. This was reported by the regional publication VyCherpno.

“Correspondence between one of the witnesses and the defendant was discovered, in which the details of the publication of news on the website of the Cherkasy diocese were discussed,” — said prosecutor Vadim Kolomiets.

The prosecutor added that the correspondence was found in the Signal, Viber, and Messenger apps, where they discussed issues related to the content of the Cherkasy diocese of the UOC. In addition, during the inspection, correspondence was found with the Russian-language version of the Cherkasy diocese website with two Russian numbers.

In turn, Metropolitan Feodosy commented on the prosecutor’s statements, noting that personal correspondence with Russian subscribers in Ukraine is not considered a crime.

«That page contained a publication written by the mother of a soldier who died at the front. She expressed her thoughts on the seizure of the temple. If necessary, she will testify. Is sending a message to Russian numbers a crime?», — said Metropolitan Feodosy.

As a result of the debate between the two sides, the court session ended without any decisions being made. The next court hearing in this case will take place on June 24, 2025.

We will remind you that on June 4, 2025, the Dnipro Court of Appeals refused to satisfy the complaints of the lawyers of Metropolitan Arseny of Svyatogorsk against the decision of the Slavyansk City Court to extend his detention. His Eminence has been in the Dnipro pretrial detention center since April 25, 2024, and his arrest has been extended until the end of July this year.
