The TRC explained the grounds for the mobilization of the abbot of the UOC monastery in Pochaiv

A representative of the communications group of the Ternopil Regional Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center, Viktor Senenkyi, confirmed the detention of the abbot of the UOC monastery in Pochaiv, Archimandrite Pafnuty. This was reported by “Espreso.Zakhid.”

“During the document check, it was found that he had been violating military registration rules since April 14, 2025, in accordance with the Law of Ukraine ‘On Military Duty and Military Service,’ Article 23. He did not use the right to deferment, was not officially exempted under the law, and as a result, is subject to mobilization on general grounds,” said Viktor Senenkyi.

He also noted that Ukrainian legislation does not provide absolute exemptions for certain categories of individuals who cannot be mobilized under martial law. The determining factor is the presence of legal grounds for deferment or exemption from mobilization.

It should be recalled that the head of the Pochaiv Holy Spirit Men’s Monastery-Skete, Archimandrite Pafnuty, who was detained two days earlier by employees of the Territorial Recruitment Center of the Ternopil region, was sent from the military enlistment office to one of the military units in the Rivne region.
