Greek Catholic cardinal visits Catholic school under construction in Zaporizhia

On June 15, 2025, Greek Catholic Cardinal Mykola Bychok visited Zaporizhia, where he conducted religious services at the local Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. During his visit, Bychok also visited the Don Bosco Catholic School, which is being built in Zaporizhia. This was reported by the Information Department of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.

It is reported that the treasurer of the Donetsk Exarchate and rector of the parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Vitaliy Vovk, the school director, and Daria Ishkov, the deputy director, gave Cardinal Mykola Bychok a tour of the construction site of the Don Bosco Catholic School and provided details about the construction, where in six months the first three-story building with a shelter was almost completely built and interior work is already underway.

They also visited the “Safe Space” shelter, where first-graders from the Don Bosco Catholic School studied during the 2024/2025 school year. There is a dance hall on the first floor of the “Safe Space.” Then they familiarized themselves with the activities of the “Angel” children’s center, which has a kindergarten and more than 40 different clubs: a painting studio, a vocal studio, a Sunday school, English language classes, Wushu, dance, a theater studio, and others.

As previously reported, construction of a new Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church will begin soon in the Obolon district of Kyiv. The building, which is planned to be constructed in a futuristic style, will have a “public space” and a “shelter.”
