Meeting held in Kyiv between AUCCRO and Ministry of Defense on chaplaincy and mobilization issues

On June 19, 2025, a meeting took place in Kyiv between the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (AUCCRO) and Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Yevhen Moisiuk. The Orthodox Church of Ukraine was represented by Metropolitan Ioan Yaremenko, head of the organization in the Cherkasy region. This was reported on the official OCU website.

During the meeting, the participants discussed the development of military chaplaincy in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations, as well as the work of mobile interfaith groups that provide spiritual support to service members and their families.

Special attention was given to the discussion of certain provisions of Cabinet Resolution No. 76, titled “Some issues related to the implementation of the Law of Ukraine ‘On Mobilization Training and Mobilization'” concerning the deferral of military service for conscripts during mobilization and wartime.

It should also be recalled that on June 11, 2025, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal held a working meeting with representatives of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations. Among other topics, the meeting addressed the issue of granting deferrals from military service to members of religious organizations in Ukraine.
