Primate of the Polish Orthodox Church Greets Metropolitan Onufriy on His Name Day

On the occasion of the commemoration of St. Onuphrius the Great, celebrated on June 25, greetings are being sent to His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine from Primates of Local Orthodox Churches and hierarchs abroad. This was reported by the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

Among those who congratulated Metropolitan Onufriy was His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland, Primate of the Polish Orthodox Church.

“Your Beatitude! I sincerely congratulate you on the day of your Name Day. I pray to the Lord that through the prayers of St. Onuphrius the Great, He may grant you spiritual and physical strength in your primatial ministry to the Holy and much-suffering Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Many years to you, Your Beatitude!” — reads the greeting from Metropolitan Sawa.

Earlier, it was reported that Olexandr Drabynko, a representative of the OCU, expressed hope that the Polish Orthodox Church would soon recognize the “autocephalous status of the OCU”. Drabynko also added that “it is God’s will” for the OCU and the POC to enter into Eucharistic communion.
