Political scientist criticizes Zelensky for revoking citizenship of head of Ukrainian Orthodox Church

Ukrainian political analyst Konstantin Bondarenko commented on Volodymyr Zelensky’s decision to strip the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, of his Ukrainian citizenship. The political scientist criticized Zelensky for this political move, comparing him to the biblical character Judas Iscariot. He wrote about this on his Telegram channel.

«Volodymyr Zelensky stripped His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy, head of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, of his Ukrainian citizenship. Although not so long ago, he professed deep respect and even declared his intention to convert to Orthodoxy. Volodymyr Oleksandrovych! Your advisors have slightly misled you. You timed your decree to coincide with the wrong symbolic date. Today, the Orthodox Church does indeed honor the memory of the Apostle Judas Iakovlev, the brother of the Lord. But this is a different Judas, not Iscariot, not your patron, whom you emulate and whom you intend to surpass in everything,» — Bondarenko wrote.
