Robert Amsterdam: We will hold Yelensky accountable for attacks on the UOC

Robert Amsterdam, head of the international human rights law firm Amsterdam & Partners LLP, which represents the legal interests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, threatened Viktor Yelensky, head of the Ukrainian State Service for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience, with international liability if he did not stop pressuring the UOC. The lawyer wrote about this on his account on social network X.
«Viktor Yelensky, overseeing the state’s assault on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), has a long record of undermining faith — from minimising antisemitism in the 1980s to attacking the UOC today. He is sowing HATRED. If he doesn’t stop now, he will be held accountable«, — Amsterdam wrote.
Earlier, it was reported that the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience published a list of religious organizations directly subordinate to the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC. The list includes synodal institutions, diocesan administrations, and monasteries founded by the Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC, which, in the event of a ban on the UOC KM, will automatically lose their legal status and, as a result, their right to real estate.
