Epiphaniy Dumenko met with the Ukrainian ambassador to Turkey

On July 23, 2025, the head of the OCU, Epiphaniy Dumenko, received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Turkey, Nariman Dzheylal, and the Consul General of Ukraine in Istanbul, Roman Nedilsky. The parties discussed the development of the OCU and other topical issues. This was reported by the OCU website.
It is reported that during the meeting, among other things, the development of the OCU, as well as interchurch and interreligious dialogue, were discussed. In addition, the parties discussed the implementation of Law No. 3894, aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and preparations for the celebration of the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council.
Earlier, we reported that Pope Leo XIV announced his intention to visit Turkey. The Pontiff’s visit to the Patriarchate of Constantinople will take place in a few months and will be timed to coincide with the celebration of the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council.
