UOC Church Set on Fire in Khmelnytskyi District

On the night of August 2, 2025, an unknown individual set fire to a house church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Holoskov, Khmelnytskyi District. The church is home to the parish dedicated to the Pochaiv Icon of the Mother of God. Thanks to the prompt response of emergency services, the fire was quickly extinguished, and police identified the arsonist. This was reported by the press service of the Khmelnytskyi Diocese of the UOC.
“The religious community of the UOC dedicated to the Pochaiv Icon of the Mother of God in Holoskov village, Khmelnytskyi District, expresses gratitude to the State Emergency Service and the National Police Department of Khmelnytskyi Oblast for their professional performance, thanks to which the fire was promptly extinguished and the perpetrator identified,” the statement reads.
Earlier, on the night of May 22, 2025, there was an attempted arson attack on the UOC church dedicated to the “Quick to Hearken” Icon of the Mother of God in the city of Dnipro. Traces of fire were discovered by parishioners in the morning before the Divine Liturgy. According to the rector, thanks to the vigilance of believers and swift police action, the arsonist was identified and detained the same day. However, a court later released the suspect on a travel ban.
