TCC officers detained Archimandrite Galaktion, a resident of St. John the Baptist Monastery of the UOC

In Khmelnytsky region, representatives of the Territorial Completion Center (TCC) together with the police and representatives of local authorities removed Archimandrite Galaktion (Redeye) from the territory of the monastery. According to the press service of the Khmelnytskyi diocese of the UOC, the incident occurred on May 24, 2026 in the village of Velyka Kalinovka immediately after the end of the festive service.
According to a statement from the Khmelnytskyi diocese, three TCC officers, accompanied by the head of the Oleshynska OTG, Valentina Bazilyuk, and police officer Vitaly Shlyakhov, arrived at the territory of St. John the Baptist Monastery. The diocese claims that the clergyman was taken directly from his monastic cell and taken to an unknown direction.
At the moment there is no communication with the archimandrite. According to preliminary information received by representatives of the church, the clergyman may be in one of the military units of the city of Chortkov, Ternopil region. The official report emphasizes that Archimandrite Galaktion has been praying for the Ukrainian people for many decades.
The diocesan administration called on the faithful and “people of good will” to assist in the monk’s return to the monastery. This incident caused a wide resonance among parishioners, given the status of the detainee and the circumstances of his removal from the territory of the religious site.
We shall remind you that earlier we reported that employees of the TCC attacked Metropolitan Volodymyr-Volynskyi and Kovel Volodymyr.
