Poroshenko Prayed with Epiphaniy in a Half-Empty Lavra on the Feast of the Assumption (New Style)

In the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, on the day of the celebration of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary according to the new style, a “service” took place with the participation of former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and the head of the OCU, Epiphaniy Dumenko. According to correspondents’ observations, few people were present in the cathedral, and the church remained half-empty. However, Poroshenko published photographs from the event, creating the impression that his visit was the central event at the Lavra. The post appeared on his Facebook page.

Judging by the photos, the reaction of a group of activists who attended the “service” indicates that OCU supporters, forgetting the religious purpose of the gathering, focused on taking pictures with Poroshenko.

It is also worth noting that on the eve of the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which the OCU celebrates on August 15 in the Assumption Cathedral of the Lavra, “transferred” to this structure, only about ten people gathered in the church. Among them were several media representatives and people resembling tourists.
