The head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyivan Patriarchate, whose poor health had been reported by the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, appeared in public on the day of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary

On August 28, on the day of the celebration of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the head of the “Kyiv Patriarchate” Filaret Denisenko was present at the St. Vladimir’s Cathedral of the UOC-KP in Kyiv during the festive religious services. This was reported by the press service of the UOC-KP.

It is reported that “on August 28, on the feast day of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God, Patriarch Filaret of Kiev and All Rus-Ukraine celebrated the Divine Liturgy at St. Vladimir’s Cathedral.” However, the head of the UOC-KP did not perform any religious services, but simply attended the service at St. Vladimir’s Cathedral.

It is noteworthy that Filaret Denisenko’s appearance in public is significantly at odds with the recent information about his poor health, which was disseminated by the press service of the OCU a few days earlier.

Recall that Alexander Pivovarsky, chief specialist of the Department of Cultural Heritage and Religion of the Culture and Tourism Administration of the Zhytomyr Regional Administration, said that the “Kyiv Patriarchate,” headed by Filaret Denisenko, has not legally ceased to exist, since the head of the UOC-KP has not transferred the founding documents. In this regard, a large number of communities of the UOC-KP still exist in the state register.
