Metropolitan Longin requests international assistance in connection with discrimination in Ukrainian courts

Metropolitan Longin (Zhar) of Banchen, a hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, has published an appeal requesting the assistance of international lawyers in connection with the fact that Ukrainian courts are creating discriminatory conditions for the bishop, in the context of which a fair consideration of legal claims against him is not possible. This was reported by the press service of the Banchensky Monastery of the UOC.
«The judge decided to postpone the hearing of the case by four dates: September 23-24 and October 5-6, which is a violation of the law. This decision was made without taking into account the poor health of Metropolitan Longin (Zhar). In this regard, the metropolitan is forced to appeal to international lawyers for legal assistance in the unfair court case against him,» — the statement said.
We recently reported that the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Feodosy (Snigirov) of Cherkasy and Kaniv, remains under investigation. On September 8, 2025, the Sosnovsky District Court of Cherkasy, at the request of the prosecutor, extended the bishop’s preventive measure in the form of “house arrest.”
