DESS demands court to seize all property from Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

Details have emerged of a lawsuit filed by the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience against the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The DESS is demanding not only that the UOC-KM be stripped of its registration, but also that all its property be confiscated. This is stated in the text of the lawsuit published on the website of the Unified State Register of Court Decisions.
According to the ruling of September 3, the Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal accepted the lawsuit for consideration and opened proceedings in the case of the DESC’s administrative lawsuit against the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
In particular, the DESS asks the court to terminate the religious organization “Kyiv Metropolis of the UOC” as a result of liquidation; to transfer the property, funds, and other assets at its disposal to the State Fund “Management of Property under the Authority and Control of the Government of Ukraine.”

Earlier, we reported that the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnic Policy and Freedom of Conscience announced the date of the first court hearing on the lawsuit demanding the ban of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The DESS reported that the case is scheduled to be heard in court on September 30, 2025.
