We recently reported that, at the request of the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, the Microbiology Laboratory of Sumy State University “ECOMEDHIM” conducted “tests” on the relics of the Venerable Pechersky in the Far Caves of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. This information comes from the response to a lawyer’s request from Archpriest Nikita Chekman. He noted that the ministry refused to provide any further information about the actions of institutions regarding the Lavra’s shrines.
The head of the OCU conducted religious services in the Near Caves of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

On September 12, 2025, the head of the OCU, Epiphany Dumenko, performed religious services for the first time in the Vvedensky Church of the Near Caves of the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. The head of the OCU was accompanied by the head and employees of the National Reserve “Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.” This was reported by the organization’s website.
«We recently held a prayer service in the Far Caves, where the necessary work to preserve this great Ukrainian shrine was successfully completed. Today, we held a prayer service for the beginning of good work in the Near Caves, so that such work here would also be crowned with success. We believe in this and ask for God’s blessing and the intercession of our reverend fathers of Kyiv-Pechersk and all the saints of the Ukrainian land, our compatriots who once worked, fought, and strove here so that the light of the Orthodox faith would always shine here. We also ask for help from the Most Holy Mother of God, because the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, like the Holy Mountain of Athos, is her special destiny. May this shrine always be preserved and may prayer always be heard here. After all, this place is meant for prayer: prayer for Ukraine, for our brave soldiers and defenders, for the entire Ukrainian people, who are now suffering from Russian aggression, for the victory of truth and the long-awaited just peace,» — said Dumenko.
