OCU hierarch congratulates Greek Catholics on the beatification of a new Uniate saint

The head of the Zakarpattia diocese of the OCU, Vladimir Rudnik, has congratulated the faithful of the Mukachevo Greek Catholic diocese on the beatification of a new Uniate saint, Peter Paul Oros. Rudnyk addressed the congratulations to MGKD administrator Teodor Matsapula, calling the day of beatification «outstanding in their spiritual life.» Rudnyk wrote about it in his Facebook account.

«On behalf of the Transcarpathian diocese of the OCU and on my own behalf, I congratulate MGKE administrator Bishop Theodore and all the Greek Catholic faithful of the Transcarpathian diocese on an outstanding day in their spiritual life — the day when the rite of beatification of Priest Peter Paul Oros was performed. Years have passed, but the struggle with Moscow for the values and ideals of our Motherland, for the faith, still continues on our Ukrainian land,» he wrote.

We will remind, earlier we reported that the Greek Orthodox publication KATANIXI criticized the OCU for joint worship events with Ukrainian Greek Catholics. The media attention was drawn to the recent joint «consecration» by representatives of the OCU and the UGCC of a construction site at the Omega Special Training Center, which is stationed in Kiev. The authors of the publication pointed out that such cases are not rare for the OCU and once again indicate that under the control of the Phanar a plan to create a new union between the Orthodox and Catholics is being implemented in Ukraine.
