Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine meets with Nordic church leaders

The head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has held a meeting with a delegation of leaders of Christian churches from the Nordic countries. During the dialogue, the inadmissibility of using religious authority to justify military aggression was emphasized and the importance of international spiritual support for Ukraine was noted.

During the meeting, the speaker of the Ukrainian parliament made a strong statement emphasizing the position of the state. «Ukraine will never allow to justify the war by the authority of the Church,» he said. These words became a key thesis addressed to both the international religious community and all those who try to use faith for political and military purposes.

According to the official portal of the State Service of Ukraine on Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS), the delegation’s visit is an important gesture of solidarity and support for the Ukrainian people. The parties also discussed issues of further cooperation and humanitarian interaction.

We shall remind you that the head of the OCU Epiphany Dumenko said during a meeting with a religious delegation from the Nordic countries that the bill to ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) allegedly received the approval of the Venice Commission. However, this information is not confirmed by public data and contradicts previous statements by officials and appeals by international organizations.
