MP Guz urged Zelensky to facilitate the expropriation of the cathedral of the Volodymyr-Volynskyi diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

Ukrainian MP Ihor Guz has appealed to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to take personal control of the situation concerning the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the Volodymyr-Volynskyy diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The MP urged the head of state to facilitate the expropriation of the property of the Church in Volodymyr-Volynskyi. This information was published by the portal BUG.

«Mr. President, please: take control of the case of the Assumption Cathedral! Moscow popes are not above the law! The state must fulfill the court decision. I appeal to the President to give a clear instruction to the law enforcement agencies, the executive service and the military administration to calmly and legally return its property to the state. This is not just a question of the temple. This is a question of statehood, justice and Ukrainian dignity», — said the MP.

Earlier, Metropolitan Volodymyr-Volynskyi and Kovel Volodymyr (UOC) addressed the clergy and faithful of the diocese in connection with the ongoing trials, which, according to him, pose a threat to the ancient Assumption Cathedral. In his address, the hierarch characterized the situation as an infringement of the constitutional rights of Ukrainian citizens and urged the flock to pray intensively for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
