Police initiated criminal prosecution for "obstructing searches" in Pochaev Lavra

Ukrainian law enforcers have launched a criminal investigation into the fact of «obstructing police work» during «investigative actions» on the territory of the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra. Law enforcers are currently establishing all the circumstances of the incident and the persons involved.

According to Ukrinform, the case was opened in connection with «provocations and active resistance to law enforcement officers» who were «conducting authorized searches». The actions of the persons who interfered with the work of the police are qualified as interference in the activities of law enforcers.

At this point, the investigation is ongoing. Additional details about the reasons for the searches and specific episodes of obstruction of the work of law enforcement officers have not been disclosed in official reports yet. The main attention of the investigation is focused on the legal assessment of the actions of those who interfered with the procedural measures.

We shall remind you that in the morning of October 8, law enforcement agencies of Ukraine conducted searches on the territory of the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra in Ternopil region. The investigative actions were carried out as part of a pre-trial investigation into the criminal proceedings opened under the article on fraud committed on a particularly large scale.
