Archbishop Hieronymos II of Athens and All Hellas was discharged from the G. Gennimatas General Hospital on Monday morning, where he was hospitalized the day before after experiencing a mild ischemic episode. Doctors confirmed that his health condition is stable and there are no concerns.
According to Orthodoxtimes.com, the head of the Hellenic Orthodox Church spent a short period of time in a medical facility for observation. His hospitalization on Sunday followed a brief ischemic episode, which, according to preliminary medical reports, was transient in nature and had no serious consequences.
Speaking briefly to reporters as he left the hospital, Archbishop Jerome said, «Everything is fine, I feel better.» Doctors have confirmed that the Archbishop is in good general condition and medical examinations have shown that he is out of danger.
The incident occurred after Archbishop Hieronymos led a multi-hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Athens on Sunday morning, which included the consecration of Bishop John of Skiathos. Shortly after the service, he felt slightly fatigued and doctors recommended hospitalization for observation.
Throughout the incident, Archbishop Jerome remained fully conscious, alert and sociable, aware of his surroundings and condition. During his stay in the hospital, he underwent all necessary medical examinations. The Archbishop reportedly appeared calm and was in good spirits, expressing gratitude before returning home to rest.
