"Temporary underperformance": Cherkassy mayor hints at seizure of two, remaining in the city, churches of the UOC

The mayor of Cherkasy, Anatoliy Bondarenko, has expressed concern over the fact that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church owns two more churches within the city limits. The mayor commented on the situation, calling it a temporary «shortcoming» of the community that needs to be corrected.

«This is our and the community’s shortcoming. I think that we have to correct our mistakes….. We can say that the representatives of the UOC MP are temporarily in the structures,» — said themayor.

Anatoliy Bondarenko also spoke sharply about Metropolitan of Cherkasy and Kanev UOC Theodosia, calling him a «propagandist». According to the mayor, it is necessary to stop memorializing Moscow Patriarch Kirill and «all other people who consecrate missiles flying to Ukraine». «And Theodosius likes, he does not want to quarrel with Russia», — he added.

We will remind, odious chaplain of the PCU from Cherkassy Volodymyr Ridny complained in the local media about the fact that in the ownership of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the city still remain two temples. Ridnyy claims that the congregations of these churches have already «transferred to the PCU», so it is only a matter of time before these churches come under the control of the Ukrainian schism.
