Vatican: Peace in Ukraine requires everyone's contribution

The Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, has called on the international community to join efforts to end the conflict in Ukraine. He emphasized that peace requires the contribution of all key world players, including the United States, Europe and China, and noted the importance of humanitarian initiatives as a step towards a settlement.

Speaking to the press in Rome, Cardinal Parolin said collective action was needed. «Everyone’s contribution is truly necessary to take a few steps towards peace, » he said. According to Vatican News, the secretary of state expressed hope that Europe could play a «more prominent role» in the process, along with the United States and China.

Regarding possible negotiations, Cardinal Parolin showed guarded optimism. «I believe that some negotiations are underway, perhaps non-publicly,» he noted, expressing hope that these efforts will bear fruit. He also briefly commented on the recent meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, describing it as «good», during which the parties are trying to «bring their positions closer together».

We will remind, earlier US President Donald Trump said that peace talks between Russia and Ukraine could take place in the Vatican. The head of the White house is convinced that both Russia and Ukraine are interested in the end of the war.
